Do you ever share my results with third parties?

How do I collect my sample?

We use a noninvasive swab to collect cells from the mouth. The swab is easy to use and only takes about a minute to collect enough DNA for analysis. Once collected, the swab is mailed directly to our lab for analysis.

Why do I need to register my kit?

You will need to register your kit so that it can be linked to your Alter account online. This ensures we link your sample to you. Our lab cannot process your sample if it is not registered.

Do I have to pay for shipping?

No. We cover the costs of shipping. A prepaid label and packaging is included with your DNA test.

Where is my sample processed?

Your sample is processed by our CLIA licensed laboratory, in the USA.

How quickly do I need to return my sample?

To maintain the sample's quality for our lab, we request its prompt return after swabbing, ideally within 24 hours.

My swab tip is slightly yellow - is it suitable for use?

A slight yellowing of the tip is a well-known phenomenon and could be due to many factors: the type of raw material, product sterilization treatment or natural aging of the fibers which make up the swab.  If the swab tip is slightly yellow in color, it is not indicative of product deterioration and you should use the swab as instructed.

How old do I have to be before I can take the test?

You must be 18 years old to do the Alter DNA test.

Is there a trial period?

Absolutely. If you’re not fully content with your Alter System, you will receive a complete refund within 30 days of delivery. Just return the Alter System in its original box, and you’re good to go.

How much space do I need in my home?

The Alter Screen is the star of the Alter System. It’s sleek and designed to take up a minimal amount of space in your home while providing way more value than a bulky home gym ever could. 

We recommend setting up the Alter Screen where you can stand 6 feet back from the camera and perform workouts with enough space to extend your arms laterally without knocking anything over. 

You might forget the Screen is there when you're not working out. The Alter Screen looks beautiful and seamlessly integrates into various living spaces, whether a house or an apartment.

Alter charges a $39.99 monthly membership fee for individuals and $59.99 for households up to 5 people. When you complete your Alter workout plan every week, Alter will cover the cost of your monthly membership.

Can I install it by myself?

We strongly recommend hiring a qualified tradesperson to assist you in wall-mounting your Alter Screen. If you choose not to wall mount your Alter Screen, and instead use the base plate, we recommend working with another capable adult to ensure your Screen is stable and secured properly.

Does Alter offer a discount for professional installation services?

Is there a limit to the number of accounts I can have on one screen?

Our fitness system is designed for households with up to 5 people. We have made household accounts fun by allowing members to work together and earn credits that can be used to cover their membership fees. This creates a real sense of teamwork and adds an element of fun to everyone's fitness journey.
